Dear Cape Friends,
Fall has arrived on Cape Cod: cooler days, golden sunsets, and beaches where you can actually find a parking spot. But if you’re a golf fan, it also means one thing: Ryder Cup season.
(Before we tee off - if you’re new here, welcome! Each week I share what’s happening in Cape Cod real estate, sprinkled with local flavor and the occasional detour (this week: golf fireworks).
And boy, there is drama this year! For the first time, Team USA players are being paid – Yes, up to $500,000 each (wait, what..?), while Team Europe sticks with tradition and plays for pride. It’s sparked debate across the golf world, and for good reason: is it about honoring history, or embracing change? A reminder that in golf, like in real estate, the game is always evolving.
And here’s the thing: no two golf courses are the same. In fact, no two golf shots are the same. Every hole, every swing comes with its own conditions, angles, and obstacles. Real estate works the same way. Every property, every negotiation is unique - but the fundamentals never change: preparation, positioning, and execution.
Here on the Cape, one of the lifestyle perks (aside from the majestic Atlantic ocean) that constantly draws buyers is golf. We’re surrounded with options - here are a few of my very personal favs:
Public Courses: Chatham Seaside Links/Chatham, Captains/Brewster, Highland Links/Truro, Cranberry Valley/Harwich, Bayberry Hills/Dennis
Private Clubs: Eastward Ho!/Chatham, Cape Cod National/Brewster, Wianno Club/Osterville, Hyannisport Club/Hyannis, Sacconnesset/Falmouth
(And that’s just a taste - if you want my full insider’s guide to Cape Cod golf courses, just hit reply and I’ll send it your way.)
Whether you’re a scratch golfer or just a blowhard boozebag parked at the 19th hole, it’s all part of the lifestyle that makes the Cape so special. For many buyers, proximity to these courses is just as important as the number of bedrooms or water-views.
Final Thoughts
Just like the Ryder Cup, the market comes with shifting conditions and fresh challenges. But whether you’re leaning on tradition or embracing change, the smart move is always knowing where you stand.
Enjoy the Ryder Cup, the fall colors, and if you’re around Friday morning please swing by Chatham Perk for the very BEST coffee in town. I’ll be there…
And… please, keep this between us: word is Tiger Woods is quietly working a major PGA Tour deal at Hyannisport Club (yup, cross my heart) and rumor has it he’s staying in Chatham!! If he pops into Chatham Perk Friday morning, respectfully… please, please, please, no scenes. 😉
